Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz in full was born out of wedlock, at his father farm on 13 August 1926. However, adopting a Marxist- Leninist model of development, Castro changed Cuba into a one- party socialist state under communist party run, and as the first in the western Hemisphere. He introduces policies leading to central economic planning and expanding healthcare and education which were accomplished by state control of the press and the suppression of internal dissent.
