Recalling an event that occurred during Nigeria’ s civil war, which many are still angry about, while others wish not to experience the event in life, General Yakubu Gowon and Ojukwu were well- known men who said they witnessed the heat and pain of the Nigeria civil war.
No president today would like to experience the heat or the events that took place during the civil war, where both men and women died, millions of Nigeria lost their lives, loved ones and friends.
The heroes who participated in one way or the other have all gone to the grave. And here are we, living, hoping to see what the future of Nigeria has for us.
With the outlook on the seating position between Yakubu Gowon and Ojukwu, one may argue if they had once loved each other?
However, it was during the Yakubu Gowon regime that northerners carried out a major massacre of Igbo living in the North.
Yakubu Gowon was still the head of state when the civil war between Nigeria and Biafra commenced. With this in mind, I think OJUKWU didn’ t act friendly to Yakubu Gowon even after the civil war.
Here is the photo of Ojukwu, Gowon and Abacha in Nigeria’ s presidential airplane.
The late general Sani Abacha, while he was the head of state of Nigeria, made vast political connections with various people. He was seen flying in one of Nigeria’ s Presidential fleets, accompanied by former belligerents from the Nigerian Civil War.
General Yakubu Gowon is on the left, and the late Ikemba of Nnewi is on the right. The same was the leader of Biafra forces, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, who later ran for the presidency of Nigeria.
However, the both war enemies later reconcile the differences at Enugu state after 40 years of Nigeria civil war.
